JULY BOOK A DAY – JULY 10

JULY 10.

10) Novel with the most memorable picnic for International Teddy Bear Picnic Day.

jolies_tenebres

Most memorable picnic would definitely be from graphic novel Jolies Tenebres by Vehlmann & Kerascoët. This is a French work of art. The them is quite heavy and is not for those with weak nerves. At times it is vomit inducing and tragically accurate on the darker depths of human condition. Also it is quite accurate on the showcasing most high school environments. Phantasmagoric.

Quite dark and not a Teddy bear in sight….

JULY BOOK A DAY – JULY 9

JULY 9.

9) Most irritating character in a novel

Monica Vespucci is a character from Anita Blake vampire hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. She is a lawyer at Anita’s friend Catherine’s law firm, and a vampire aficionado. She is one of the bridesmaids at Catherine’s wedding. In Guilty Pleasures, Vespucci is part of the plot to blackmail Anita into solving a series of vampire murders.

I find her character very annoying. She is a lawyer, has no reserve to hand over her human friends to the vampires to do what they please with – and i mean that in the worst possible way. Given time, a sufficiently powerful vampire can put a victim into an effectively permanent hypnotic state.

8) Favorite Great War novel

I dislike war themed novels in general. I dislike everything about war. So I don’t have favorite Great war novel.

I have  read a few novels in which there were scenes of battle.

This is a scene from graphic novel Angel: After the Fall

Also I liked the uprising in graphic novel Orchid where bunch of prostitutes decide to pick up arms and fight for their rights

Also the only historical novel about conquering I love is Blue wolf by Homeric. It is a story of Genghis Khan.
