JULY BOOK A DAY – JULY 19

JULY 19.

19) Most memorable plot twist ( no spoilers)

topping

Topping From Below by Laura Reese
This book was so hard for me to read and the plot twist is one of the most memorable I have ever read.

It starts with a woman whose estranged sister turns out dead. In her mad pursuit to find the one responsible for her sisters death she decides to do some investigating of her own. She is convinced that the murderer is her sisters ex boyfriend. In the hopes to prove his guilt she decides to basically make him her fuck buddy…

The story is written from the point of view of both sisters.
Topic is controversial since the nature of relationships and sex lives of both sisters with the main suspect are heavy in the S&M category.

All in all the story is frighteningly intriguing once you past the scary crazy sick stuff….

Achtung! Achtung! Achtung!

This is not the book for people who get sick to their stomach easy and not for those with a weak heart! There are scenes depicting things normal humans don’t want to know about. Things that involve animals…

18) Favorite crime novel of all time- It’s Harrogate Crime Festival

Fatale_graphic_novel

Crime is not my favorite genre. I’ve looked at my reading and found I’m seriously lacking in crime genre reading.

The best I could have come up with was:
Death Chases Me (Fatale: Book 1) by Ed Brubaker (Author), Sean Phillips (Illustrator)
This is a graphic novel in style of old noir films. I liked it and was reminded at some old movies I watched with my grandmother when I was younger – she was a great movie fan.

The theme of this graphic novel is kinda cthulhu mystery. There are people wearing trenchcoats and people shoting with guns

17) Novel which surprised you most

bully

Bully (Fall Away Book 1) by Penelope Douglas

This book was a suprisse for several reasons:
I got it for free and it turned out to be very good
I don’t usually read much CR genre – in fact I tend to avoid it most times.
I took the time to reread it and it turned out even better than I remember!

This is YA contemporary coming of age novel. Main character is a victim of a bully who used to be her childhood best friend. There is a lot of drama in this book and I cried a few times reading it.
