Reading challenge for the summer!

Challenge

I’m always interested in creative reading challenges. I like the idea of a reading challenge that is set up as a fun and creative way for helping out a reader to choose books to read. I have tried many different approaches and types of challenges. In one of the groups at Goodreads there is a reading challenge that comes up every now and again. The premise is picking out the books to read so that they form your own name by using the title, author or even the title of the book series.

Some while ago I was debating if I would be able to challenge myself to read books that can correspond to the letters in my name. After writing it down the job of picking out books that fit was a lot harder than it seemed the reading will be…

ANASTASIA ADAMOV

My name is quite long and it has many A’a – 6 to be exact, which proved challenging. After some debate and researching of my shelves and TBR list on GR I made the following list:

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna book 1) by Kendare Blake
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
Angel & Faith: Live Through This (Season 9, Volume 1) by by Christos Gage, Rebekah Isaacs (Artist)
The Ship of the Dead (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard book 3) by Rick Riordan
Wayward, Vol. 4: Threads and Portents (Wayward volume 4) by Jim Zub
The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Vol. 1 by Aya Shouoto
Sigvald (Warhammer Heroes #4) by Darius Hinks
I, Strahd: The Memoirs of a Vampire (Ravenloft #7) by P.N. Elrod
Serpentine (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #26) by Laurell K. Hamilton

All These Things I’ve Done (Birthright #1) by Gabrielle Zevin
Dune (Dune #1) by Frank Herbert
Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause
9 From the Nine Worlds (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard) by Rick Riordan
Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 1by Bisco Hatori
Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead

I had to improvise a bit but managed to be pleased enough with my list. I was even eager to start and I’m already done with two books from the list and happily in the third one! I decided that the order of reading is not important as much is the whole reading experience.

Here are the two books I’ve read so far:

51+AHDLangL

I, Strahd: The Memoirs of a Vampire (Ravenloft book 7) by P. N. Elrod

I’ve covered some of my thoughts on this one in my last post –> HERE

The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Vol. 1 by Aya Shouoto

I’ve made a quick work of this one because it is one of the manga edition I have for a while now and it was a part of what one might call a “shelf of shame” (I’m seriously thinking of making an actual physical shelf for some of the books that I own and have not read for years now! ) The general impression this one left was cute but not good enough to keep up with the series. I can now be done with it and maybe give it away.

Sigvald

Sigvald (Warhammer Heroes #4) by Darius Hinks

Sigvald is the third book of this list I’m currently on. I have little knowledge on Warhammer lore in general but have played the board game Chaos in the Old world and is one of my favorites. I prefer playing with Slaanesh fraction and always wanted to learn more on the lore. Central figure of this book is a champion of Slaanesh and I’m very interested in his story!

I will post an update on the progress of the reading challenge next Monday! In the meantime I have lots of other stuff I’m preparing to post about!
